Katayoun Kormi

I was born in 1985, and painting has been my language of expression since childhood — so much so that, whenever I wanted to give someone a gift, I would draw for them. I began taking painting more seriously at the age of fifteen, although my academic path did not begin in art. I first studied computer software and later moved into graphic design, where my professors pointed out that my work naturally belonged to painting rather than graphics.

That realization led me to change my direction and continue my education in painting, earning a Bachelor's in Art Education and later a Master's degree in Painting. For the past seven years, painting has been my full-time, dedicated practice, and most of my time and energy — outside my role as a mother and spouse — is devoted to my work as a painter.

My subjects are most often nature or still life. My love is painting from living nature, and I believe it will remain my lifelong subject. Yet, due to the realities of motherhood, I currently work mostly from home, and still life has naturally become more present in my practice. In every case, I strive to capture the most beautiful, poetic version of what stands before me — in its best composition, light, and harmony of color — so that the viewer may have a moment of experiencing beauty and completeness through my eyes.
